The Brief:

The Ramada Hotel in Albany is a development comprising of a hotel, retail, and apartments. We were involved by the Safari Group to build and design a façade treatment that would provide privacy, solar protection and an external look in line with the architect’s vision.

Key Challenges:

  • Tight timeframes.
  • Materials and design had to suit different purposes.
  • Presence of other trades actively working on the project.

Our Approach:

The choice of materials was a critical point. The client had used natural cedar on earlier projects but was not completely satisfied with the result. We were therefore asked to explore other options.

The solution we proposed was the Solaris 180 system with chamfered and squarebox louver blades, and Caldera 150 clasp bracket fixed louvers.

Result:

After experimenting with different options and configurations, we demonstrated to the client how they could achieve both their functional and aesthetic objectives in a cost-effective manner.
