Sylvia Park Tower - Location

BRIEF

With a large number of screens and digital surfaces in the building, sun shading was of critical importance, especially given the need for accuracy in the work being carried out. Located in the heart of the CBD, there was a need for an expedited installation to minimise any disturbance to traffic and other nearby businesses.

KEY CHALLENGES

One the surface this was a relatively straightforward project. The challenges were to be found in the finer details, the finish to be as seamless as possible. There was also to be minimal disruption at street level to both pedestrians and traffic, allowing the CBD and the busy intersection nearby to flow freely.

OUR APPROACH

The perforated sheet metal, with a repeating triangular geometric pattern was affixed using a concealed hook detail. A powder coating to match the black in the ASB logo was used, ensuring brand integrity when the large ASB sign was placed over the perforated metal.

To meet sun-shading requirements, Solaris 600 louvres with a clasp bracket detail were used. These spanned 3 floors and provided the required protection from the sun, reducing screen glare and maximising visual occupant comfort.

The required rapidity of install was achieved through careful planning and coordination. There can be no substitute for experience in these situations, components and inter-dependencies coming together as planned and on-time.

RESULT

The finished building strikes a powerful pose in downtown Hamilton. Visually, it's very strong and impactful, exhibiting the kind of gravitas you'd expect to be associated with a large banking institution. The manner in which it dominates the local surrounding area stands it apart as a landmark building.
